SCOTTSDALE – It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Janet Lillian Fox on January 9th, 2019, in Scottsdale, AZ at Scottsdale Honor Health Osborn.

Janet was born October 26, 1935 in Syracuse, New York to Charles and Pearl Black Sr., the youngest of six children along with beloved twin sister Judy. After an active childhood including cheerleading, band, and a healthy balance of farm chores, Janet graduated nursing school and received certification from the University of the State of New York. It was during this time that she met former husband Gil Fox. Jan and Gil married and ventured to Arizona to start a new life, where Janet provided skilled and caring aid for over 35 years to patients at what is now Scottsdale Honor Health Osborn. Janet later continued her career as a nurse at Main Chance, then the Scottsdale Eye Surgery Center.

In addition to a life spent caring for others, Janet was a loving mother to her three children, supporting them in their passions whether it be sports, music, or academics, and later enjoyed time spent with grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jan treasured bridge with her dearest friends, and enjoyed sports, politics, and her daily walks. Jan was fond of animals, adopting a stray or two along the way, and generously supported community services.

Janet is survived by her brother Charles Black, sister Tish Perkins, brother Bill Black, children Raymond Fox, Leigh Young, and Jill Fox, grandchildren Cole, Drew, and Rees Young, great-grandchild Lucca Young, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donation may be made to the charity of your choice.
