Richard Hamilton Slick

-

- – Early Wednesday morning, January 9, 2019, Richard Hamilton Slick passed away after just turning 75 yrs old. He was born on January 7, 1944 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Richard grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada and graduated from UNLV with a degree in Radiology Technology. After more than a decade in that field, he went back to school and obtained a doctorate in optometry from Southern California College of Optometry. He practiced clinical optometry for nearly 40 years.

Richard was married to his beloved wife, Susan Shipley-Slick, for 40 years. They met in optometry school in the late 1970’s. He was an amazing husband - most of all because of his unconditional love and support for her.

Richard is survived by his 3 children David, John, & Alicia, and his 4 grandchildren Kate, Ethan, Sara, and Ellie. He was anxiously awaiting the upcoming wedding of his beloved daughter Alicia in her marriage to Andrew Grossnickle this fall. We know he will be walking her down the aisle in spirit.

Richard was a natural athlete and excelled at anything he pursued. He especially loved golf for more than 50 years. With his wife, Susan, he traveled around the world and back again. It is with great joy that some of his last time on earth was spent in France and his beloved Germany.

A celebration of his life will be held Friday, January 18, at Christ of Ascension Episcopal Church, 4015 E. Lincoln Dr., Paradise Valley, AZ at 3:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Gonzaga Scholarship Fund.
