PHOENIX – Larry Goodman, 84 of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2019. Larry was born February 13, 1934 in Brooklyn, NY; the only child to Bernard and Hannah Goodman. At an early age he enjoyed and cultivated a lifelong passion for handball (aka “punch ball”), chess, and bodybuildi­ng (and was once featured in and pictured on the cover of Strength and Health Magazine). He attended Brooklyn College and graduated with a degree in accounting. After graduation he travelled to California where he fell in love with the Desert Southwest. Larry worked as a travelling auditor for the Arizona Dept. of Revenue and had a second career as a realtor. An avid hiker his entire adult life, Larry covered many trails and was among the group that inaugurate­d the annual endurance challenge, “Conquering Arizona” in the mid-80s which included hiking the Grand Canyon and Humphreys Peak in two days. Larry had an adventurou­s spirit and tried as many new things as possible. He had a love of life and traveled every continent, most of the united states, and many countries around the world. His personal motto was to “get as much out of life as you can before life gets out of you.” Larry is survived by his children: David Goodman, Seth Goodman (Darla), Samantha Reichenber­ger (Jerry) Miryom Snyder (Kevin), his five grandchild­ren: Emily, Elizabeth, Skye, Abby and Jenna, his Former Wife: Karen Wacker; and his cousin Herbie Chasman.
