2016, last in 2017 and 23rd last season.

Detroit won its finale 31-0 over Green Bay, but that was the only time in its last 10 games that the Lions scored more than 22 points.

The Lions were 25th in the league in scoring at 20.2 points per game. The Cardinals, meanwhile, were last at 14.1 points per game.

Cooter began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Tennessee and has spent 10 seasons coaching in the NFL. He was an offensive assistant for the Colts (2009-11), a quality control coordinator for the Chiefs (2012) and an offensive assistant for the Broncos (2013). He was the quarterbacks coach for the Lions for 11⁄2 years before assuming the offensive coordinator duties.

Cooter was arrested and charged with aggravated burglary in 2009 and with drunken-driving in 2006, according to reports from the Associated Press and the Tennessean.
