Two Rivers Renaissance Faire Pirate & Faerie Festival

Nothing says renaissance fair like jugglers and fire dancers, especially if they share a stage (and the 16th century accepts the presence of 21st century extinguishers). Among the first of the festivals saluting the fun and frivolity of the Dark Ages, the Two Rivers Renaissance Faire will be filled with entertainers, music and all sorts of chances to buy a souvenir.

10 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2; 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3. Yuma County Fairgrounds, 2520 E. 32nd St. $10, $5 for ages 5-12. www.tworiversfaire.com.

Geology of Sedona Hike

Red Rock State Park in Sedona is at the base of the Mogollon Rim, the southern edge of the Colorado Plateau. Over millions of years of erosion, the rim has receded over 4 miles, creating the picturesque features of Sedona. Join knowledgeable volunteers as they venture out onto park trails and discuss how Sedona transformed into what we see today. Bring water and wear sturdy footwear.

1-3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, and the second Sunday of the month through May. Red Rock State Park, 4050 Red Rock Loop Road, Sedona. $7, $4 for ages 7-13, free for age 6 and younger. azstateparks.com/red-rock.

Tubac Festival of the Arts

Don’t worry if you’ve missed Tubac’s first 59 festivals of the arts. You can catch up at the 60th, which features the colony’s dozens of resident artists plus hundreds of visiting artists. You’ll find paintings, sculptures, pottery, glassworks — if you can imagine a medium being turned into something decorative or useful or both, odds are you’ll find it here. Throw in a beer garden and food vendors and your weekend is planned.

10 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursday-Sunday, Feb. 6-10. Tubac, about 40 miles south of Tucson on Interstate 19. Free, $8 to park. 520-398-2704, www.tubacaz.com.
