Destiny is a goofy girl

- — Kelsey Dickerson, Arizona Humane Society

Every year, approximately 6.5 million companion animals enter shelters nationwide, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Of those, about 3.3 million are dogs and 3.2 million are cats.

Each week, The Arizona Republic highlights a handful of the many pets up for adoption at Valley shelters. To check the status of a specific animal, please contact the shelter directly.

Destiny

Destiny is what you are meant for, your born purpose. For this 7-year-old Chihuahua mix version of Destiny, she knows she is meant to live a happy and healthy life in a home filled with love.

The sweet girl was found in the yard of a Good Samaritan back in December of last year where it was discovered she had some old wounds around her neck and body. While in the care of the Arizona Humane Society’s animal trauma hospital, Destiny had a small mass above her eyelid removed and also was found to have some arthritis. Although this absolute sweetheart of a pup has been through so much, she has proven herself to not only be a survivor but also a dog who can see the bright side of any situation.

Adorable Destiny is “a goofy girl” who loves to meet new people and especially enjoys being around other canine friends her size. Already a pro at walking on the leash, the little diva will strut her stuff any chance she gets when on an adventure outside. But her all-time favorite pastime is finding a nice, comfy lap to snuggle on while getting pets on her adorable head.

HOW TO ADOPT: Destiny is available for adoption today at noon at the Arizona Humane Society’s Campus for Compassion location at 1521 W. Dobbins Road in Phoenix. Her adoption fee includes her spay surgery, current vaccinations, a microchip and a free followup wellness exam with a VCA Animal Hospital. For more information, call 602-997-7585 and ask for animal number 595095.
