PHOENIX – Brian Kent Whitmer, Sr., 74, died on January 31, 2019 at Hospice of the Valley’s Gardiner Home. He fought Chronic Lymphocyti­c Leukemia for nearly a decade. He was the husband of Mary Whitmer and they shared 46 years of marriage. Brian was born in Bowling Green, Ohio, the son of Agnes and Earl Whitmer. Brian served a 5-year apprentice­ship with Local 50 Plumbers and Pipefitter­s in Toledo, OH and became a Journeyman Pipefitter. He did industrial work throughout the Toledo, OH area. When Brian moved to AZ he joined Local 469; some of his favorite job sites in AZ were Palo Verde Generating Station and Intel. Brian was a member of the Franciscan Renewal Center for 40 years. He was an avid hiker and completed over 20 Rim to Rim hikes in the Grand Canyon. Brian was a master craftsman and enjoyed woodworkin­g, being outdoors, taking walks with his dogs, and playing with his grandchild­ren. He will be remembered for being a hard worker who was dedicated to his family. Brian is survived by his wife Mary, brother Ned, sister Merry, son Brian Jr (Jeniffer), daughter Carrie (Steve), and six grandchild­ren; Benjamin and Gabriel (9), Addison and Anna (5), Betty (3), Cash (1).

The funeral Mass will be held at the Franciscan Renewal Center, 5802 E Lincoln Drive, Scottsdale on Friday, February 8, 2019 at 1 pm.
