United Airlines drops fares to Hawaii to as low as $355

- Melissa Yeager

If you’ve dreamed of a Hawaiian vacation, now is the time to book if you can travel in August, September or October.

United Airlines has slashed prices on flights from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport to Maui and Honolulu during that time frame. That means you can score a flight to the Aloha State for as low as $355.

Travel website The Points Guy has also spotted low fares on American, Hawaiian and Delta. Some of these fares are from Phoenix; some are from California airports.

The fare deal may be spurred by the “Southwest effect” of Southwest Airlines entering the market with flights to Hawaii from California.

Tips for this Hawaii fare sale

How to use the United deal: You’ll need to leave on a Wednesday or Thursday and return Monday through Thursday to get the best price. We saw availability from August through October, plus some flights in the $400s in November.

The best way to compare dates: Use Google Flights. Enter your dates and then click “view flights.” You can then use the Date Grid or Price Grid

functions to see more options. If you click on the calendar dates, the entire month will come up, giving you the ability to compare prices.

How long will this deal last? We don’t know. Fare deals often sell out, and airlines change rates frequently.

What if I want to think on it? U.S. carriers are required to refund your money if you change your mind within 24 hours. In addition, on American Airlines you can hold an itinerary for 24 hours on many routes without entering your credit card information.
