Have you always thought of yourself as having regal bearing?

Does the idea of holding court while knights do battle in your honor appeal to you? Can you keep your composure while chaos unfolds around you and still hold the attention of a loud, hungry crowd?

If so, you might be the kind of person Medieval Times is looking for.

Medieval Times, the family entertainment venue that features a jousting tournament and sword fights in an arena setting, is opening a castle and dinner theater on the Salt River Reservation near Scottsdale this year. The company is seeking applicants for the roles of queen and lord chancellor. The queen and lord chancellor won’t have to take up arms – the knights get to have that fun – but they’ll run the show while keeping the crowd engaged. The roles require a strong voice and stage presence. You’ll deliver that on horseback, by the way. But personality is most important. They can teach you how to ride.

Can you be a queen or a lord?

Here are a few of the qualifications desired:

❚ Previous experience in live-action theater strongly preferred.

❚ Must be able to memorize lines and speak with a clear and dynamic voice (ability to speak with various accents preferred).

❚ Horseback riding will be necessary; previous horseback experience is helpful but not required.

❚ Must be able to interact with and keep the attention of a large crowd.

❚ Must be able to work varied hours including days, nights, weekends and holidays.

❚ Must be able to work in a team environment in a fast-paced live show.
