Coco, Chanel a fashionable duo
Every year, approximately 6.5 million companion animals enter shelters nationwide, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Of those, about 3.3 million are dogs and 3.2 million are cats.
Each week, The Arizona Republic highlights a handful of the many pets up for adoption at Valley shelters. To check the status of a specific animal, please contact the shelter directly.
Coco and Chanel: A fashionable pair of pups
Regardless of your personal fashion preferences, this version of Coco and Chanel are always in style and exceptionally adorable. The now four-yearold cream Chihuahua, Coco, and sixyear-old black longhair Chihuahua mix, Chanel, have an incredible bond that is immediately recognizable, even when they were first brought to AHS. Fast forward a few years and these fashionistas are practically inseparable, especially when it comes to nap time.
Although they can be a bit timid at first, both pups warm up after a little patience and of course a few treats. It is also rumored that Coco loves to play with cats and wear cute dog clothes when the temperatures dip below her liking. Sweet, loving and cuddly — both girls consider themselves the perfect accessory for any lap or pair of arms that will hold them.
How to adopt: Coco and Chanel will be available today at noon at the Arizona Humane Society’s Campus for Compassion, 1521 W. Dobbins Road in Phoenix. Their adoption fee includes both pups, their spay surgeries, current vaccinations, microchips and a free follow-up wellness exam with a VCA Animal Hospital.
