A Tonopah teen took a plea deal Wednesday after plotting with her adult boyfriend to murder her father in 2017.

Jocelyn Norton, 17, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, attempted child abuse and tampering with physical evidence, according to court records.

Her sentencing was set for August 29. She is being charged as an adult.

Her co-defendant, Daniel Stroh, 23, faces charges of first-degree premeditated murder and tampering with evidence.

According to court records, Norton and Stroh planned to kill the teen’s parents, John Norton, Sr. and Theresa Norton. However, Norton claims after Stroh killed her father, they changed plans and left the handgun in the desert.

Sometime before Oct. 23, 2017, Norton, who was 15 at the time, hid her father’s gun so she could give it to her boyfriend, who was 21 at the time.

According to court records, Norton and her boyfriend agreed on the location, time and day to kill Norton’s parents. On the day of the shooting, Norton gave Stroh the gun and he hid in the parents’ home.

Norton waited outside when her father entered the home. He was carrying her infant daughter and walking next to her 13-year-old sister. According to court records, Stroh shot John Norton when he was in the kitchen.

Stroh and Norton left the home with the baby and the 13-year-old sister in the father’s car.

According to court records, Stroh and Norton were planning to go to Theresa Norton’s work to kill her. The two changed their plans and decided to leave the handgun in the desert.
