HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL TWO-A-DAYS

-

It's time for two-a-days, a continuing series, examining each region in Arizona for the 2019 high school football season.

3A Metro West Region

Phoenix Bourgade Catholic, Buckeye Odyssey Institute, Surprise Paradise Honors, Chandler Valley Christian, Yuma Catholic.

Yuma Catholic. The onetwo punch of QB Gage Reese (7,398 career passing yards, 94 TDs) and RB Ean Chavez is a great start for a team that lost in three overtimes to Northwest Christian in the state final.

Valley Christian. Great athleticism. Unproven in the trenches.

Odyssey Institute. Returns eight offensive starters, led by RB Chris Weaver, from an 8-3 team.

Yuma Catholic senior RB Ean Chavez. He ran for 1,458 yards and 24 TDs and caught 55 passes for 1,121 yards and 13 TDs last season.

Aug. 30, Yuma Catholic is home for Northwest Christian, one of the greatest small-school rivalries.

3A North

Chinle, Ganado, Kayenta Monument Valley, Page, Tuba City, Fort Defiance Window Rock. Page. Got on the map last year beating five quality programs, including Valley Christian, Florence and Tucson Pusch Ridge. Monument Valley. Watch for a big resurgence behind sophomore Andrew Sheppard, who can escape pressure and could be one of the top 2022 QBs in Arizona. Ganado. Junior RB Tony Shirley ran for 1,000 yards and scored 15 TDs last year.

Page junior QB/CB Robert Smith. He had four 100-yard rushing games during 10-2 season

Nov. 1, Page plays at Monument Valley, likely for the North title.
