CAMPING OUT

- – Katherine Fitzgerald

Camp confidential: Quarterback Kyler Murray wanted more reps in the first preseason game, and he’ll get them this week. Still, coach Kliff Kingsbury won’t say exactly how many. “More. I don’t know how much more, but we’ll see how the game’s going. But definitely more than one drive,” Kingsbury said. He said he “expects most guys to be going,” but they have not made firm decisions on who all will play . ... There will be a bit more of a focus on the opposing team this week as the Cardinals prepare to host the Raiders, but not to the point where it will supersede Kingsbury and the team focusing inwardly. “Similar to last week, continue to really work on our install. Going good on good, and getting that work,” Kingsbury said. “But then Tuesday, Wednesday, focus some on their schemes and what they’re doing. Not a ton, but enough to go out there and be able to execute at a high level.” ... Rookie wide receiver Andy Isabella returned to practice this week, giving him some more time to prepare for Thursday. Kingsbury said Sunday he anticipated Isabella would make his preseason debut against the Raiders. While he did not miss much time, he’s still making some slight adjustments to the NFL in general. “It’ll take a few days for him to get back in rhythm, but very hard worker, very conscientious about his approach, so I expect him to pick back up here quickly,” Kingsbury said . ... The Cardinals were awarded their waiver claim on linebacker Jeff Holland, who played three games with Denver last season. He was first-team All-SEC at Auburn . ...

Injury report: Kingsbury said he does not believe right guard Justin Pugh (shoulder) will be available to play against the Raiders, but they are “hoping” he’ll be ready for Minnesota. Mason Cole continued to get reps with the first-string offense in his place. Right tackle Marcus Gilbert did not practice for the third day in a row. Korey Cunningham filled in again with the first team.

Quote of the day: “I was just letting the hair breathe, I guess,” Murray on why he was not wearing his typical headband at practice

Up next: The Cardinals will have an outdoor training camp session Tuesday, which is closed to the public. The team is off Wednesday. On Thursday, the Cardinals take on the Raiders. The game will be nationally televised (ESPN) and kicks off at 5 p.m.
