State medalists Benita and Callinan lead way; Pinnacle’s Wilde top coach

Here is The Arizona Republic’s All-Arizona girls golf team with the eight Golfers of the Year nominees and Coach of the Year for the 2019 high school season.

Maya Benita, Sr., Catalina Foothills

University of Arizona commit who won her first Division II individual state title and led Catalina Foothills to third place in the state tournament.

Sydney Bryan, Jr., Mesa Red Mountain

Came in third place at the Division I state championsh­ip, second at the Antiqua National and the Mesa City.

Joy Callinan, Sr., Hamilton

Won the Division I individual state championsh­ip.

Madeleine Laux, Sr., Goodyear Millennium

Came in second place at the state tournament by just two strokes behind the winner Maya Benita, tied for second at the Aguila Invitation­al, fourth at the Roar Classic, fifth at the Nighthawk Invitation­al and sixth at the Antigua Invitation­al.

Ashley Menne, Sr. Xavier Prep

One of the top female amateurs in the nation, who became the Division I individual state championsh­ip runner-up for the first time in her high school career in 2019, led Xavier Prep to second place in the state championsh­ip.

Won the Aguila and Nighthawk Invitation­al tournament­s and had a +5.6 handicap.

Calynne Rosholt, Jr. Cactus Shadows

Won the Roar Classic and finished in third place at Aguila Invitation and the Division II state championsh­ip.

Katie Stinchcomb, Jr., Phoenix Pinnacle

Led Pinnacle to the team title at Eagle Invitation­al, finished in seventh place for the Division I individual state title, and helped lead Pinnacle to win its first girls team state championsh­ip.

Grace Summerhays, So., Scottsdale Chaparral

Won the Prescott Invitation­al and SUSD Girls District Tournament, tied for fifth place at the Division I state championsh­ip, finished sixth at the Aguila Invitation­al

and won three matches.

Carolyn Fuller, Pinnacle; Mattie Frick, Peoria Liberty; Hannah Ports, Oro Valley Ironwood Ridge; Zoe Newell, Ironwood Ridge

Coach of the Year

Charlie Wilde, Phoenix Pinnacle

Led the Pioneers to their first Division I team state title since 2010, beating Xavier Prep by four strokes in the final round of the state championsh­ip to become the fourth team since 1979 to defeat the Gators in the state championsh­ip.

Also, he led Pinnacle to win the Desert Valley regional title, came in first place at the Aguila and Eagle Invitation­al tournament­s, plus earned second place in the Antigua National Tournament by one stroke from the title.
