Before returning to Arizona, he worked for Adolph Coors Co. at their brewery in Golden as a Brewery Engineer. In Arizona, Chuck worked for the City of Phoenix, Sperry Flight Systems as a Mechanical Engineer, and Supervisor or Major Facilities. He continued with Honeywell as Manager of Facilities Satellite Systems Division when Sperry was acquired in 1986. Chuck established Boyes Engineering LLC in 1992 and spent the rest of his life working as a Consulting Engineer on more than 2000 projects. He never retired despite many health challenges in his later years. Besides working as a mechanical engineer, Chuck enjoyed teaching and mentoring many other engineers over the course of his career. As you would expect he loved to build and make things work. He could be relied on to troubleshoot anything from a car to an air conditioning system.

He was an avid skier and enjoyed the outdoors. He and his children spent time skiing, camping and fishing and enjoying Arizona. There were also lots of road trips with his family. Chuck loved to travel and began cruising in the 1990s. He met his second wife, Patri Mays, in 2005 and they enjoyed many road trips, visiting Thailand and Vietnam, and numerous cruises to Mexico, Alaska, Panama Canal, Caribbean, and most recently the Baltic.

He was a loving husband and companion to his wife as well as a friend to many people. He inherited his dry wit from his English father and was always ready to tease. It is hard to remember him without smiling. He will be remembered by all for his gregarious nature, strong work ethic, and love of sports.

Chuck was cremated and a Celebration of Life took place at his home December 26, 2019. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to: MD Anderson Cancer Center Foundation in support of Stem Cell Research. Details will be available at the Celebration of Life.
