Huckleberry is an adorable guinea pig
Every year, approximately 6.5 million companion animals enter shelters nationwide, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Of those, about 3.3 million are dogs and 3.2 million are cats.
Each week, The Arizona Republic highlights a handful of the many pets up for adoption at Valley shelters. To check the status of a specific animal, please contact the shelter directly.
Huckleberry
At just a little under 4 months old, Huckleberry is still learning the world but enjoys every minute of it. The sweet guinea pig was recently surrendered to the Arizona Humane Society, along with a few siblings, after his previous owner had too many to take care of.
Guinea pigs, also known as cavies, are social creatures who love to interact with others and show off their excitement with adorable little chirps, purrs and squeals, so it is easy to tell when sweet Huckleberry is happy and having a great time!
Because they love interaction, it is best to have this cute boy in a high traffic area of the home, away from direct sunlight and to allow him plenty of monitored exercise time outside of his enclosure.
As soft as he is adorable, this cutie is sure to be a great and animated addition to his future forever home.
How to adopt: Huckleberry is available for adoption today at noon at the Arizona Humane Society’s Campus for Compassion location, 1521 W. Dobbins Road in Phoenix. His adoption fee includes a free follow-up wellness exam with a VCA Animal Hospital, 20% off at AHS’ Petique retail store and 30 days of pet insurance. For more information, call 602-997-7585 and ask for animal number 623773.
