MESA – On Friday, December 6, 2019, Raymond Wallace (Wally) Broker passed away at the age of 95 in Mesa, Arizona. Wally was born on January 27, 1924 on the family farm in Kansas. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps and during WWII he served in the European campaign with the 575th Bomb Squad flying over 26 missions as a tail gunner in a B26 Marauder. Following the war, Wally entered into a carpentry apprentice­ship in Kansas City, Missouri where he met and married Charlotte Eva Wehrly in 1946. They resided in Kansas City and in 1947 their first daughter, Charlotte Ann was born. In 1952 they relocated to Phoenix and their second daughter Mary Kathleen was born. Wally was a gifted craftsman in his trade and worked on many high-profile properties across the Valley and Arizona. He was an avid camper, hunter and fisherman, enjoying many trips and fishing tournament­s with family, friends and his fishing dogs (Scruffy and Laddy). Wally and Laddy volunteere­d at the Phoenix Veterans Hospital, establishi­ng the dog therapy program. Because of this program, and his ongoing volunteeri­sm, he was nominated for the Arizona Volunteer of the Year Award. He was an active, committed 32nd Degree Masonic brother of Arizona Lodge No. 2, Pinal Lodge No. 30 and member of York Rite Freemasonr­y. Wally was able to fulfill one of his dreams by participat­ing in Honor Flight of Arizona, attending the WWII veterans tour of Washington, D. C. with his grandson Travis, USMC. Wally is lovingly survived by his daughters, Charlotte Ann (Annie) Palmer and husband Terry; Mary Kathleen (Kathleen) Wyckoff and husband Jim; grandchild­ren Kelly Prosnier and husband Gerard, Amanda Hasl, and Travis Sindel and his wife Ericka. Great-grandchild­ren Baden and Wyatt Prosnier; Jaxxon, Aubree and Wylder Hasl; and Nora Sindel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Honor Flight of Arizona (honorfligh­taz. org) or the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (aspca.org).

Services will be held on Friday, January 10, 2020 at 1:00 PM at A.L. Moore-Grimshaw Mortuary located at 710 W. Bethany Home Road Phoenix, Arizona 85013.
