No. 20 Iowa beats No. 25 Ohio St.

No. 20 Iowa 85, No. 25 Ohio State

76: Luka Garza scored 24 points, and No. 20 Iowa got strong contributi­ons from its bench in a 85-76 win over No. 25 Ohio State.

It was Garza’s 12th consecutiv­e game of 20 points or more in Big Ten play, the longest streak for an Iowa player in 49 seasons and the most by any conference player in the last 20 years.

Bakari Evelyn came off the bench to score 15 points for the Hawkeyes. Joe Wieskamp had 13 points, and Ryan Kriener added 12.

The Hawkeyes (19-8, 10-6 Big Ten) opened the game with a 27-8 run in the first 10 minutes. Ohio State (17-9, 7-8) closed to within 43-35 with 41 seconds left in the first half, and was within nine points on three occasions early in the second half before Iowa went on an 18-8 run to lead 69-50 with 6:43 to play.

Freshman E.J. Liddell led Ohio State with a season-high 17 points.

No. 18 Colorado 70, Southern California 66: McKinley Wright IV had 15 points, including a floater in the lane in the final minutes, to help No. 18 Colorado hold off Southern California 70-66 on Thursday night.

Wright added six rebounds and seven assists, and Tyler Bey had 14 points and 11 rebounds for Colorado (21-6, 10-4 Pac-12 Conference).

Onyeka Okongwu had 21 points, Jonah Mathews added 17, and Nick Rakocevic had 14 points and 11 rebounds for the Trojans. They lost for the fourth time in six games.

No. 23 BYU 85, Santa Clara 75: T.J. Haws scored 28 points and added nine assists to help No. 23 BYU hold off Santa Clara for a 85-75 victory on Thursday night.

Yoeli Childs scored 22 points and grabbed 11 rebounds and Jake Toolson added 20 points and 10 boards for BYU (22-7, 11-3 West Coast Conference).

Josip Vrankic scored 28 points and collected 11 rebounds to lead the Broncos (18-10, 5-8). Tahij Eaddy added 11 points, all in the second half.

Top 10 women

No. 1 South Carolina 63, LSU 48:

Aliyah Boston had 13 points, nine rebounds and five blocks and South Carolina held off pesky LSU for its 20th straight victory.

South Carolina (26-1, 13-0 Southeaste­rn Conference) seemed well on the way to doing what it’s done so often this season, taking a quick first-quarter lead and counting on its defensive tenacity to stay in front.

This time, though, LSU (18-7, 8-5) came right back at the Gamecocks with pressure of its own to keep things tight the first two quarters.

Jailin Cherry led LSU with 13 points.

No. 5 Louisville 58, Georgia Tech 47: Jazmine Jones scored 18 points, Dana Evans added 14 points and Louisville beat Georgia Tech for its third straight victory.

Kylee Shook added 13 points and 13 rebounds for Louisville (24-3, 13-2 Atlantic Coast Conference).

Lotta-Maj Lahtinen had 11 points for Georgia Tech (17-10, 8-8).

No. 9 Mississipp­i State 92, Auburn 85: Freshman Rickea Jackson scored nine of her season-high 34 points in overtime and Mississipp­i State rallied from a 14-point deficit to beat Auburn.

The Bulldogs (23-4, 11-2 Southeaste­rn Conference) rebounded from a loss at No. 14 Kentucky with their second straight comeback win over the Tigers (9-15, 3-10).

No. 10 North Carolina State 50, Miami 48: Jakia Brown-Turner made a go-ahead, baseline jumper with 2.9 seconds left to lkift North Carolina State past Miami.

The freshman scored 18 points to match her season-high for NC State (23-3, 12-3 Atlantic Coast Conference).

Destiny Harden scored 15 points for Miami (13-13, 5-10).
