A Chandler man is accused of stabbing a woman, attacking his father and causing six hit-and-runs before leading law enforcement on a chase through the East Valley on Sunday morning.

The series of events began when 38year-old James Quanah Ball was at his parents’ home near Ray Road and McClintock Drive around 10:30 a.m. Sunday, and his brother’s fiancee said, “Good morning“to Ball, according to court documents.

Without responding, Ball stabbed the woman five times, and kicked and punched her. Ball’s father tried to intervene, but Ball allegedly punched him in the face before leaving in a vehicle, the documents stated.

The stabbing victim was not seriously injured and was expected to recover.

After leaving the home, Ball caused four hit-and-runs in Chandler and another two in Mesa, according to court documents. During one of the hit-andruns, Ball reportedly struck a vehicle, backed up and then hit the vehicle again before leaving, according to the documents.

Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers tried to pull over Ball, but he reportedly did not stop for marked patrol vehicles.

While trying to evade authorities, Ball drove on the wrong way on the freeway, court records stated. Ball traveled east in the westbound lanes of U.S. 60 at Greenfield Road before he turned around.

DPS troopers twice used a maneuver to get Ball to stop and he was eventually stopped and arrested near Val Vista Drive.

Ball, 38, was booked into Fourth Avenue Jail on suspicion of aggravated assault, reckless driving, unlawful flight, hit and run, and disorderly conduct.
