Senior standouts headline the team

Here is The Arizona Republic's All-Arizona girls basketball team and the eight finalists for Player of the Year, along with the rest of the best for the 2019-20 season. The Republic will announce the Player of the Year for

each sport later this spring.

Kennedy Basham, Phoenix Pinnacle, C, So.

One of the top sophomores in the state, Basham's towering 6-foot-6 frame and ability to take over a game in the clutch made her the state's best center. She was ranked second and eighth among all players in Arizona at 4.6 blocks per game and 14 doubles-doubles, respective­ly, and averaged Pinnacle's team-high 9.9 rebounds per game. Basham was also its secondlead­ing scorer at 17.6 per contest and helped led the Pioneers to a No. 2 seed and their second consecutiv­e 6A playoffs semifinal appearance.

Alyssa Brown, Tucson Sahuaro, F, Sr.

The top scorer in Arizona high school girls basketball who averaged 31.1 points, 9.7 rebounds, 3.9 steals per game. The 6-foot-1 Brown had a rolling list of achievemen­t during the 2019-20 season: Sahuaro's all-time leading scorer and set a single-season state record as she posted 932 points; led the state in field goals (347) and free throws made (204). She reached her 2000th career point during the 4A state playoffs, led the third-seeded Cougars to a 28-2 record and its first state championsh­ip game appearance since 2001.

Madison Conner, Gilbert Perry, F, Jr.

One of the top one-on-one players in the state. Conner was third in the 6A conference in scoring (20.0 points per game) and hit the 1,000-point mark. She was also second in both field goals (207) and 3-pointers made (86) categories, led Perry to a 21-8 record and the state tournament semifinals.

Marisa Davis, Surprise Valley Vista, F, Jr.

One of the most athletic, dominant players on the offensive and defensive side of the floor and among the Player of the Year finalists. Davis helped lead 6A champion Valley Vista to its third state title in four seasons, a 29-3 record and 18-game win streak to complete the season. She finished as the

state's fifth-leading scorer at 22.0 points per game and led Valley Vista in rebounds (8.3) and blocks (1.6), plus contribute­d 2.5 steals per game.

Jessica Finney, Scottsdale Chaparral, G, Jr.

After senior guard and 2019 All-Arizona girls basketball finalist Anna Ostlie suffered a knee injury in December, her teammate Jessica Finney stepped up as Chaparral's best player to fill that void. She led the state in 3-pointers made (96), ranked third in field goals made (232) and fifth in scoring (21.8 points per game). She staged her best all-around performanc­e of the season by posting 39 points on 59% shooting, 12-of-13 from the free throw line, 15 rebounds and three steals to upset sixth-seed Chandler in the conference tournament's first round.

Jaedyn O’Reilly, Scottsdale Desert Mountain, G, Sr.

She was half of one of the top backcourt tandems in the state along with senior guard and Colorado commit Sophie Gerber, O'Reilly, who is committed to Oberlin College, was highly efficient as she averaged 15.0 points on 49% field goal shooting, had team-highs 6.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 2.7 assists per game. She helped lead Desert Mountain to a 17-11 record, scored more than 1,000 career points and was 5A's ninth-ranked player in assists as the Wolves made it into the state quarterfin­als round.

Senya Rabouin, Shadow Mountain, G, Sr.

Rabouin has her second consecutiv­e All-Arizona selection and was the state's eighth-leading scorer at 20.4 points per game. She is an elite defender ranked seventh in steals (5.7) and possessed a deep-shooting ranges, was sixth in field goals made (210) and produced 39.2% from beyond the arc. Rabouin led Shadow Mountain to a 25-4 record, a No. 2 seed as the team reached the 4A state tournament semifinals.

Alexandra Zelaya, Goodyear Millennium, F, Sr.

This is the North Carolina commit's second All-Arizona team selection. The versatile 6-foot-4 Zelaya led the 5A tournament's top seed Millennium to its second consecutiv­e state title and a 26-4 record. She was the team's leader in scoring (19.4 points per game), rebounding (8.9) and blocks (1.7) and scored over 1,000 points in her career for the Tigers.

The eight nominees for Arizona High School Girls Basketball Player of the Year were selected by the azcentral sports high school staff during coverage of the 2019-20 season using first-hand observatio­ns, interviews with coaches and players, statistica­l analysis, rankings and player performanc­e in the Arizona Interschol­astic Associatio­n's state tournament.
