Suggs on way to Pro Football Hall of Fame
Chandler Hamilton
No. 1 Terrell Suggs, 2000
One of the most dominating football players in Arizona high school history, the future Pro Football Hall of Famer is still playing outside linebacker in the NFL. After becoming Hamilton’s first All-American, a rugged running back and defensive end, Suggs became the Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Year at Arizona State in 2002. With the Baltimore Ravens, he was seven-time Pro Bowler and was first-team All-Pro in 2011, when he was the NFL Defensive Player of the Year.
No. 2 Cody Bellinger, 2013
He had fame before he even started high school as the leader of the Chandler National team that reached the Little League World Series in 2007. He hit .429 his senior season at Hamilton, before signing with the Los Angeles Dodgers after being taken in the fourth round of the major league baseball draft in 2013. Last season, the outfielder/first baseman became the National League Most Valuable Player, after hitting .305 with 47 home runs and driving in 115 runs. No. 3 Hannah O’Sullivan, 2016
She was the No. 1-ranked amateur golfer in the world in high school, the 2015 U.S. Women’s Amateur champion. At 16, she became the youngest female golfer to ever win a tournament in the the Symetra Tour’s history, capturing the Gateway Classic title. She is now a golfer at Duke.
No. 4 Tony Cascio, 2008
A remarkable soccer player, he became a first-team All-American and Big East Offensive Player of the Year in 2010 at the University of Connecticut. A twotime All-Big East first-team player in 2009 and ‘10, Cascio played professionally for the Colorado Rapids after he was chosen in the first round of the Major League Soccer draft in 2012. He also played for the Houston Dynamos in the MLS.
No. 5 Kerry Taylor, 2007
Came out of the Huskies’ great football machine as one of the greatest skill players in Arizona history. A wide receiver, he was a SuperPrep All-American who led Hamilton to the 2006 state championship with 11 TD catches. He set a school record for all-time receiving yards..He went onto Arizona State, before playing in the NFL, bouncing around for four seasons, including a year with the Arizona Cardinals.
