Taronis Fuels posts jobs for distribution, manufacturing

- Sasha Hupka

A manufacturing company is coming to Peoria, bringing with it the promise of up to 500 new jobs.

Taronis Fuels, a sustainable fuel company, will move its national corporate headquarters to Peoria from Phoenix and is opening its first manufacturing and distribution center in the state.

The company is leasing a 65,000 square foot manufacturing space near 89th Avenue and Cactus Road to sell and create industrial gases.

The facility primarily will be used to produce and sell MagneGas, a type of industrial gas that is used in the welding and metal cutting industry.

MagneGas is a natural gas alternative that burns more cleanly, producing fewer greenhouse gases, and is made out of liquid waste, according to the company's website.

A specialty industrial gas used in heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems will also be manufactured at the facility.

Taronis Fuels is expected to begin manufacturing operations in Peoria by September, while the corporate office will open in July.

The company has begun hiring and lists open positions on its website.

The move, announced by the city

this month, will include between 50 and 75 corporate positions and generate upwards of 400 jobs at the new production facility.

Peoria Mayor Cathy Carlat said in a released statement that the new jobs are “the perfect complement to the Peoria workforce.”

Peoria did not offer Taronis Fuels any tax or business incentives, a city spokeswoman said.

Opens up Southwest market

The new manufacturing and distribution facility marks the company’s first in Arizona and continues its expansion into the state.

In a company statement, Chief Executive Officer Scott Mahoney said the Peoria facility will allow Taronis Fuels to “assertively” market its products in California and throughout the Southwest.

“This new facility will impact our domestic retail strategy, both in Arizona and California,” Mahoney said. “This facility will also serve as a launch point for our aggressive expansion of TGS into the Phoenix, Tucson and Las Vegas markets.”

He highlighted Peoria’s pro-business culture, saying, "They demonstrated a strong commitment to our success both in the short term and in the long term.”
