For those who may be waiting on that recently rescheduled Eagles Hotel California Tour to make its way to Talking Stick Resort Arena in September 2021, ESPN is offering the next best thing to being there this weekend.

Airing at 5 p.m. Sunday, July 5, “Live From the Forum MMXVIII” captures a performance from a 2018 tour that found longtime members Don Henley, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit welcoming new members Deacon Frey and Vince Gill to the fold.

When that tour hit Phoenix, The Republic

wrote that by the time the concert ended, any doubts that lingered going into the performance as to whether this lineup should even exist had long since been erased.

As that review concluded, “As a tribute to the Eagles’ legacy, to Glenn Frey’s memory and to all their music ever meant to all those fans who paid to see the Eagles of 2018? It was as close to flawless as a fan had any right to dream it would be.”

That tour included three sold-out dates at the Forum in Los Angeles (Sept 12, 14 and 15). The concert film and an accompanying 26-song album were assembled from the highlights of that three-night stand.

In a press release, Eagles longtime manager Irving Azoff said, “Music and sports fans have been shut out from live events for more than three months. The premiere of ‘Live From the Forum MMXVIII’ this July 4th weekend on ESPN is the Eagles’ gift to their fans.”

Shot on 14 cameras, the concert will premiere on Sunday and be available Oct. 16 through Rhino in a variety of audio and video formats, including Bluray, CD, vinyl and streaming. A super deluxe edition will also be available.

All titles can be pre-ordered now at eagles.com and rhino.com.

The Eagles have sold more than 150 million albums worldwide and topped the singles charts five times. “Their

Greatest Hits 1971-1975” and “Hotel California” are the No.1 and No. 3 best-selling albums of all time according to the Recording Industry Association of America, certified platinum 38 times and 26 times respectively.

They’ve won six Grammy Awards and were inducted to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1998 in their first year of eligibility. In 2016, they received the Kennedy Center Honors.

The Eagles Hotel California Tour plays Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix on Friday, Sept. 24, and Saturday, Sept. 25.
