Sea Girt Lighthouse

Built in 1896, this unassuming lighthouse can be seen from 15 miles at sea.

Sea Girt Lighthouse was built to illuminate a blind spot midway in the 381⁄2-mile stretch between Twin Lights and Barnegat Lighthouse. It also served as a landmark for Sea Girt Inlet and Wreck Pond.

The brick lighthouse tower is attached to a house, so if you’re not looking for it, you might miss it.

The tower is petite, at 44 feet tall. Sea Girt Lighthouse was automated in 1945 and deactivated in 1977.

It is owned by the borough of Sea Girt.

The Sea Girt website features a virtual tour and plenty of pictures to pique your interest.
