PARADISE VALLEY – Kay Kisako Young was born May 17, 1932 in Osaka, Japan. She passed away July 6, 2020 in Scottsdale, AZ from complicati­ons of Alzheimer. Her parents, Keijiro and Mitsu Korbori, and beloved daughter, Jeanne Bylina, predecease Kay. As a child growing up in Osaka, Kay experience­d the horrors of World War II. Post war was equally difficult for her family of seven, but there was a lot of love. Kay learned English at a Christian school. After high school, she attended the University of Tokyo. She married in 1953 and then had a beautiful daughter in 1956. In 1957 she moved to the United States; settling in Denver, CO. In Denver, she worked as a nurse in the emergency room at a local hospital. Before moving to Phoenix in 1969, she lived and worked in Germany, Chicago and Montana. Nursing was her passion! She joined the medical team at Allergy and Dermatolog­y, where she was in charge of the allergy department until she retired in 1997. Kay loved meeting new people. As a nurse, she made many friends. In addition to her nursing, Kay loved to play the piano. As an animal lover, Kay raised dogs. Her favorites were Yorkies and Silkies. Sometimes one of the litter would bless a family member or close friend. Kay was an excellent cook. She always enjoyed hosting parties. Everyone was eager to try her newest Japanese creations. Shortly before Kay retired, she took some art classes. She loved her new retirement adventure. For the most part, Kay was self-taught. In the last 14 years, she completed over 100 incredible paintings. Kay and husband, Stuart traveled and enjoyed many concerts, including the Phoenix Symphony. Kay is survived by her husband, Stuart Young of Paradise Valley, AZ; sister, Akiko Oiwa of Toba, Japan; 3 brother, Junpei Kobori, Shunpei Kobori and Shinpei Korbori of Osaka, Japan; beloved niece, Chigusa Wada of Ibaraki, Japan; many nieces and nephews; Stuart’s children, Darren Young (Sandy) and Melissa Arnett; 5 grandchild­ren, Forest, Kayleigh, Samantha, Amanda and Jacob; and 3 great grandchild­ren, Olivia, Noah and Seraphinia. Many thanks to Faith Vaughn and her wonderful staff at Sunrise Senior Living of Scottsdale for their loving care of Kay for over 9 years. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Family Comfort Hospice 480-745-3015, the Alzheimer’s Associatio­n or Phoenix Children’s Hospital. Final resting place will be at Green Acres Mortuary 401 N. Hayden Rd. Scottsdale, AZ. Funeral services will be held at Green Acres Mortuary on July 29, 2020 at 10:00am.
