PHOENIX – After 87 wonderful years on this earth, Franklin Keith Kendig went to be with his Lord on July 10, 2020. Born on October 16, 1932 in New Holland, PA, he made his way to Phoenix in 1979 and adopted the Southwest as his new home. Keith’s zest for life included competitive roller skating as well as spending countless hours on the tennis court. He was instrumental in starting a junior tennis program known as the Lancaster Gold Cup. His hobbies included fishing, photography and anything having to do with cars.

He excelled at hill climb racing and acquired many awards in his beloved Triumph TR4A. He turned his love of cars into a lifelong profession of selling Volvos. Keith proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. However, his greatest joy was sharing his love of Jesus with whomever he met. Keith faithfully attended North Phoenix Baptist Church serving as a deacon, Bible study director and greeter. He was the son of Diller and Flora Belle Kendig and half-brother to Stanley, Harold and Ruth.

Keith was a loving husband to Dottie and a devoted father to his four children: Lori Fleckenstein (Mark), Karen Tucker (Geoff), Melissa Grant (Joe) and Marty Burke. He has six fantastic grandchildren whom he adored: Lia and Matt Fleckenstein, Emily and Abigail Tucker, Nick and Jill Grant.

Due to current restrictions, a celebration of life will be planned for a later date. Please visit hansenmortuary.com for online condolences.
