PHOENIX, ARIZONA – Kathryn Irene Thiry passed away on August 13, 2020. She was born July 6, 1925 in Uniontown, Kansas, the daughter of Charlotte and Charles McKinnis. She was married to William Thiry for 58 years. He preceded her in death in 2001. Her only sibling, Milton McKinnis, preceded her in death in 1961.

William and Irene moved from Kansas City, MO to Phoenix in 1949. Irene worked for the Creighton School District at Squaw Peak School for 26 years. She was a volunteer at John C. Lincoln Hospital for 18 years, a member of Lincoln Health Auxiliary, and had been a member of the Arizona School Retirees Associatio­n. She was a member of Cross in the Desert United Methodist Church. She treasured time spent with family and friends, especially backpackin­g, boating, and traveling.

She is survived by her children; Mike Thiry (Jo) of Avondale/Alpine, AZ, Diane Ingold of Scottsdale, and Sheryl Isbell of Lehi, UT. Also seven grandchild­ren; Michelle Thiry (Clark Simmons), Jamie Schneider, Wayne Thiry (Selina), Susie Ingold (Randy Norton, Adam Landefelt (Mary Ann), Heidi Dunn (Chris) and Ryan Landefelt (Jen). She leaves 15 great-grandchild­ren and six great-great grandchild­ren.

Irene will always be remembered for the love of her family, friends and her faith. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Services will be held at a time to be determined with burial at Phoenix Memorial Park.
