Lindsey is a sweet and sassy tabby cat who loves to tell you when to pet her
Every year, approximately 6.5 million companion animals enter shelters nationwide, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Of those, about 3.3 million are dogs and 3.2 million are cats.
Each week, The Arizona Republic highlights a handful of the many pets up for adoption at Valley shelters. To check the status of a specific animal, please contact the shelter directly.
Lindsey is an independent and sweet brown tabby cat
Lindsey is an absolutely beautiful domestic shorthair brown tabby that was brought to the Arizona Humane Society by a Good Samaritan in August, making her one of AHS’ longest current residents. This sweet senior girl was not eating, having stomach issues and as it would turn out, in desperate need of dental work.
Once in AHS’ Second Chance Animal Trauma Hospital, Lindsey was treated for her tummy issues and also had quite a few broken, painful teeth removed — which significantly increased her ability and willingness to start eating again.
Although Lindsey can be quite sweet, this independent kitty can also have a sassy side to her. Because of this, she would do great in a home that allows her to initiate the way she spends time with her humans, as well as no forced interactions (which is a great tip for any pet). Lindsey does enjoy having her forehead and cheeks rubbed, will make figure eights while rubbing against your legs to get your attention and will even give some adorable chirps to let you know she would like more focus on her. Additionally, Lindsey would tolerate other kitties in the home as long as they do not invade her space, along with proper introduction and positive reinforcement while interacting.
How to adopt: The Arizona Humane Society’s adoption locations remain closed as the shelter continues to heal and rehabilitate pets coming in but its Virtual Matchmaking Adoptions by appointment is available to place pets with their forever families. Interested adopters can view available pets, like Lindsey, and schedule an appointment online at azhumane.org/adopt.
