POWER RANKINGS
1. USC (0-0): Clay Helton benefitted the most from the revised schedule with the cancellation of non-conference games against Alabama and Notre Dame and the Trojans no longer facing a regular-season road game at Oregon.
2. Oregon (0-0): Joe Moorhead is an upgrade for the program at offensive coordinator and Andy Avalos’ defense might be the best in the Pac-12.
3. Arizona State (0-0): Herm Edwards has the quarterback and defense to win the South. He’ll need a patchwork offensive line relying on graduate transfers to hold up for Jayden Daniels.
4. Cal (0-0): The Bears have their Ducks in a row to challenge in the North. Head coach Justin Wilcox, offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave and defensive coordinator Peter Sirmon all played at Oregon.
5. Utah (0-0): Kyle Whittingham and the two-time defending South champion Utes must replace quarterback Tyler Huntley, running back Zack Moss and a list of dominant defensive players.
6. Washington (0-0): The Huskies are keeping the results of their four-man quarterback competition a secret. One of the candidates, Ethan Garbers, is the younger brother of Cal QB Chase Garbers.
7. Stanford (0-0): David Shaw, who has coached the Cardinal to three Pac-12 titles and four New Year’s Six bowls, is looking to bounce back from a last-place finish in the North in 2019.
8. Oregon State (0-0): Jonathan Smith has some nice building blocks in place with star running back Jermar Jefferson and AllAmerican linebacker Hamilcar Rashed.
9. UCLA (0-0): Chip Kelly’s 46-7 (33-3 Pac-12) record at Oregon is a distant memory. Bruins need to show some signs of life after taking their lumps with young players in 2018-19.
10. Colorado (0-0): Karl Dorrell wasn’t hired until Feb. 26 and didn’t get on the field for practice until Oct. 9. The Buffaloes have been playing catch up since joining the Pac-12 a decade ago.
11. Washington State (0-0): Two Hawai’i imports, head coach Nick Rolovich and true freshman QB Jayden de Laura, will lead the post-Pirate era of Cougars football.
12. Arizona (0-0): Kevin Sumlin has been unable to gain traction with the Wildcats, and this could be another long season, even with the abbreviated schedule.
