Winter weather is expected in northern and eastern Arizona on Monday night into Tuesday, with a fast-moving storm arriving on Monday evening and bringing snow showers through Tuesday afternoon, and northeastern Arizona could even see snow through Wednesday.

A briefing from the National Weather Service in Flagstaff said that the bulk of the impact will land east of the Interstate 17 corridor in northern Arizona, especially in Apache County.

A forecaster for the National Weather Service in Flagstaff said that there will be a winter weather advisory for parts of northern and eastern Arizona on Tuesday stretching from Kayenta down to Whiteriver.

Winter weather advisories have been issued for Monday night and Tuesday, warning of 2 to 5 inches of snow and winds 30 to 40 mph for the White Mountains including Show Low and Greer, the Chuska Mountains, and many areas of the Navajo Nation including Kayenta, Chinle, and Window Rock, which could see up to 6 inches of snow. Buffalo Pass could see 6 to 10 inches of snow.

Portions of Apache County will experience wind gusts through Tuesday, according to the National Weather

Service.

Hazardous driving conditions are expected on Tuesday morning, according to the weather service.

In Flagstaff, 1 to 2 inches of snow are expected.

Temperatures are expected to be below average for much of the week, and the morning lows on Wednesday and Thursday will be below freezing over a large portion of the region, according to the weather service.

This comes in the wake of an “unprecedented” winter storm that has recently left millions in Texas without power and left much of the American central and south with ice and heavy snow, according to USA TODAY. The storm has put over 150 million Americans under an extreme weather warning and stretches nearly 2,000 miles between north Maine and south Texas.

Meanwhile, forecasts for metro Phoenix predict a cloudy Tuesday morning that will turn into a sunny afternoon with breezy gusts of 10 to 15 mph and a high temperature of 68 degrees.
