ASU men’s basketball adds Toledo transfer Jackson

The overhaul of the Arizona State basketball roster continues as the Sun Devils have added Toledo transfer Marreon Jackson, who announced his decision on social media today.

The 6-foot-1 guard from Cleveland, Ohio averaged a team-high 18.1 points, 6.1 rebounds and 5.9 assists in 30 games for a team that went 21-19 overall and 15-4 in the Mid-American Conference. He was the conference player of the year

Jackson tallied a season best of 31 points against Kent State. It was one of 11 games in which he scored 20 points or more. He had seven double-doubles and two triple-doubles, the most notable being a showing against Ball State in which he registered 29 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists.

As a junior in 2019-20, he averaged 19.8 points, 5.4 assists and 4.3 rebounds, earning second-team All-MAC honors.

He also considered Georgetown, Arkansas and Miami.

The Sun Devils are expected to lose senior guards Remy Martin and Alonzo Verge and have lost four scholarshi­p players to the transfer portal in junior forwards Taeshon Cherry and Chris Osten, sophomore guard Jaelen House and freshman forward Pavlo Dziuba.

They have dipped into the transfer

portal to fill those voids with other previous additions including shooting guard Jay Heath (Boston College) and small forward A.J. Bramah (Robert Morris).

The list of high school prospects is headed by five-star center Enoch Boakye out of George Harris Prep in Canada.
