HOME team in caps RAYS 1, Rangers 0: Tyler Glasnow struck out a career-high 14 in 72⁄3 innings and Willy Adames homered in the seventh to help the Tampa Bay Rays beat the sputtering Texas Rangers 1-0 on Monday night. Glasnow (1-0) allowed two hits and got his first win of the season after pitching well but not being involved in decisions in two previous starts.

Padres 6, PIRATES 2:

Darvish allowed three hits over seven dominant innings, Wil Myers drove in five runs and the Padres extended their strong start with a 6-2 win against the Pirates on Monday night. Darvish (1-0), acquired from the Chicago Cubs in December in hopes of helping San Diego chase down the World Series champion Dodgers, struck out six and walked one in a crisp performanc­e as the Padres won their fourth straight. Yankees 3, BLUE JAYS 1: Kyle Higashioka homered twice to support Gerrit Cole, and the Yankees beat Toronto 3-1 on Monday night in the Blue Jays temporary home at their spring training ballpark. Higashioka caught Cole for the second straight start – and win – after working with him during last year’s playoffs.

BREWERS 6, Cubs 3:

Pinch-hitter Luis Urías drove in three runs with a go-ahead double and the Brewers scored six times in the sixth inning to beat the Cubs 6-3 on Monday. Freddy Peralta (2-0) struck out 10 over six innings of two-hit ball for the victory. Milwaukee has won five of six, while the Cubs lost for the fifth time in six games.

Marlins 5, BRAVES 3 (10):

Garrett Cooper had three RBIs and drove in the go-ahead run in the 10th inning off Jacob Webb, lifting the Marlins to a 5-3 victory over the Braves on Monday night. Ronald Acuña Jr. tripled and scored two runs, and Huascar Ynoa pitched a career-high six strong innings for the Braves, who have lost two straight. Nationals 5, CARDINALS 2: Kyle Schwarber doubled in a run in his delayed Nationals debut, Andrew Stevenson had a pinch-hit homer and Washington beat the Cardinals 5-2 Monday night. Schwarber, Josh Bell and Josh Harrison were in the starting lineup after being sidelined for Washington’s first six games. Angels at ROYALS, late: The Royals finished 15-15 in home games in 2020. WHITE SOX 4, Cleveland 3: First baseman Yu Chang hit Yasmani Grandal with a throw trying to force him at second base as Nick Madrigal raced home with the winning run in the ninth inning, and the Chicago White Sox beat the Cleveland Indians 4-3 on Monday night. Adam Eaton homered in his second straight game and rookie Yermín Mercedes got the winning rally started with one out in the ninth when he singled to shortstop against Emmanuel Clase (1-1). Tigers 6, ASTROS 2: Rookie Casey Mize tossed seven scoreless innings for his first career win and fellow rookie Akil Baddoo homered again as the Detroit Tigers got a 6-2 win over the Houston Astros on Monday night in manager A.J. Hinch’s first trip to Houston since he was fired for the team’s sign-stealing scheme. Athletics at D-BACKS, late: The Diamondbac­ks went 16-14 on their home field in 2020. Arizona pitchers had an ERA of 4.84 last year with a staff WHIP of 1.43. The Athletics went 14-14 away from home in 2020. Oakland pitchers had an ERA of 3.77 last year.
