A man was arrested after his mother was found dead in a San Tan Valley home on Wednesday morning, according to a Pinal County Sheriff’s Office Facebook post.
Deputies were called to a home on Allens Peak Drive after a friend discovered 56-year-old Gladis Mopecha dead inside.
Her son, 29-year-old Taboh Mopecha, was also in the home.
The Sheriff’s Office said Taboh Mopecha was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder as well as outstanding warrants.
The investigation is ongoing. Detectives asked residents in the area to check their security cameras for video of the suspect, described as a Black male, about 5 feet 9 inches tall, who may have been on foot or riding a black mountain bike with skinny tires between 4 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. Thursday.
