Desert Mountain player earns Gatorade baseball honor

Scottsdale Desert Mountain shortstop Wes Kath was chosen as the Gatorade Arizona high school baseball Player of the Year, after leading the Wolves to the 5A state championship.

“It’s a huge honor,” Kath said. “The names that have received this award before me are truly impressive and I’m honored to share this award with them.”

Kath, who can play short and third, also came on in relief to close out big games, including the 6-1 state championship win over Peoria Sunrise Mountain last month. He is a finalist for the National Player of the Year that will be announced later this summer.
