ACC ROUNDUP
No. 7 Notre Dame 28: Virginia 3: Jack Coan threw three touchdown passes and Notre Dame (9-1, No. 9 CFP) extended its regular-season winning streak against Atlantic Coast Conference schools to 23 games with a victory over Virginia (6-4) on Saturday night.
Coan connected with Michael Mayer from 6 yards, Braden Lenzy from 4 yards and Kevin Austin from 15 yards for the Fighting Irish, who also stretched their road winning streak against teams from the ACC to 11 games.
Virginia (6-4) played without quarterback Brennan Armstrong, who leads the nation in total offense with an average of 425.3 yards but did not dress after sustaining a rib injury in a loss to No. 14 BYU two weeks ago.
Clemson 44, UConn 7: Clemson’s offense continued to look out of sorts as D.J. Uiagalelei completed 21 of 44 passes for 241 yards a touchdown and an interception in the Tigers’ home win.
Uiagalelei continued to struggle overthrowing receivers. He played for two-and-a-half quarters despite a sprained knee ligament that left him hobbling at the end of last week’s win over Louisville.
Louisville 41, Syracuse 3: Malik Cunningham threw for four of his five first-half touchdowns, and Louisville’s defense stifled Syracuse Saturday in a home rout that snapped a two-game losing streak.
The junior quarterback provided all the scoring for the Cardinals (5-5, 3-4 Atlantic Coast Conference) before the ceremony with a 6-yard run on their first possession before tossing a series of TD passes.
Boston College 41, Georgia Tech 30: Boston College quarterback Phil Jurkovec accounted for five touchdowns – running for three and passing for two – and the visiting Eagles beat Georgia Tech to become bowl-eligible.
Virginia Tech 48, Duke 17: Braxton Burmeister threw for 215 yards and a career-high three touchdowns to lift host Virginia Tech over Duke. Raheem Blackshear added 117 yards rushing and scored touchdowns both rushing and receiving for the Hokies (5-5, 3-3 ACC), who amassed more than 500 yards of offense (573) for the first time in 43 games. Virginia Tech’s 374 first-half yards were more than it had accumulated in six of nine previous games this season. The Blue Devils have lost six consecutive games. Florida State 31, Miami 28: Jordan Travis completed a fourth-and-14 pass to Andrew Parchment and two plays later ran it in from 1 yard out with 26 seconds to go as Florida State defeated Miami.
Trailing 28-23 and taking over at the Seminoles’ 20-yard line, Travis dropped back and connected with Ja’Khi Douglas on a 59-yard catch-and-run. After two incompletions and a false start, Travis connected with Parchment on the 24-yard reception to the goal line.
