Young leads Hawks by Pacers

Hawks 114, Pacers 111: Trae Young made two crucial free throws in the final seconds of the game to help visiting Atlanta fend off Indiana on Wednesday night.

Pacers rookie Chris Duarte came up with a steal late in the game, but was unable to convert a contested layup. Young was subsequent­ly fouled and made the final two of his 33 points.

After the final buzzer, Pacers coach Rick Carlisle yelled at the referees about the lack of a call on the Duarte drive.

Young also had 10 assists and eight rebounds for the Hawks, who shot 51.2% (44 of 86), including 16 of 33 on 3pointers.

Young found backcourt mate Kevin Huerter for several open looks as Huerter finished with 19 points, and John Collins scored 14.

Malcolm Brogdon led the Pacers with 27 points. Domantas Sabonis scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, and Myles Turner had 17 points and nine rebounds.

Magic 108, Nuggets 103: Cole Anthony scored 24 points, Wendell Carter Jr. added 18 and the host Orlando rallied from an early 16-point deficit to beat Denver and end its seven-game losing streak.

The Magic took their first lead of the night at 106-103 when rookie Franz Wagner drilled a step-back 3-pointer with 1:45 to play.

Wagner had 15 points, while his brother, Moritz Wagner, chipped in 12 points off the bench.

Monte Morris scored a season-best 22 points, while Nikola Jokic had 18 points, 15 rebounds and seven assists for the Nuggets.

After ending a six-game losing streak on Monday in Miami, the Nuggets fell to 3-7 on the road. They are in the midst of a seven-game, 13-day road trip.

Wizards 115, Timberwolv­es 107: Montrezl Harrell scored 27 points and Bradley Beal added 19 to lift host Washington over Minnesota.

Timberwolv­es star Karl-Anthony Towns had to leave the game with 2:14 remaining after injuring himself on a dunk.

It was tied at 95 when Davis Bertans made a 3-pointer to start a 12-3 run by the Wizards. Daniel Gafford added a dunk during that stretch, and Harrell capped the run with a dunk and a free throw. Neither team had led by more than eight before that three-point play made it 107-98 with 4:16 to go.

It was 112-107 in the final minute before Kentavious Caldwell-Pope made a 3-pointer to close out the scoring.

Gafford had 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Wizards, who were back home after a four-game road trip.

Cavaliers 111, Heat 85: Kevin Love scored 22 points and the visitinf Cleveland snapped a 20-game losing streak in Miami, beating the Heat.

Jarrett Allen added 19 points and 11 rebounds and Darius Garland finished with 16 points for the Cavaliers, who had not won on the Heat’s home court since Jan. 25, 2010.

The Cavaliers also got a double-double from Evan Mobley with his 17-point, 11-rebound outing.

Tyler Herro scored 21 points for Miami.

Celtics 88, 762ers 87: Jayson Tatum scored 26 points with a career-high 16 rebounds, shaking off a hard fourthquar­ter fall to lead to lead host Boston over Philadelph­ia.

Tatum scored 11 points in the fourth, and Jaylen Brown blocked Georges Niang’s shot at the buzzer to give the Celtics the victory in their first game this season against their longtime Eastern Conference rivals and former coach Doc Rivers.

Joel Embiid had 18 rebounds for Philadelph­ia, adding 13 points on 3-for-17 shooting. Seth Curry had 17 points and Shake Milton came off the bench to score 16.
