Lola Lane and more pets up for adoption in Phoenix-area shelters

- — Kelsey Dickerson, Arizona Humane Society

Every year, approximately 6.5 million companion animals enter shelters nationwide, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Of those, about 3.3 million are dogs and 3.2 million are cats.

Each week, The Arizona Republic highlights a handful of the many pets up for adoption at Valley shelters. To check the status of a specific animal, please contact the shelter directly.

Lola Lane: A sassy senior

At 12 years young, sassy Lola Lane knows her forever family is out there missing her, they simply just don’t know it yet! Originally brought to the Arizona Humane Society in December of last year as an owner surrender, this lovable Queensland Heeler mix was quickly adopted but recently found her way back to the shelter.

Energetic and fun-loving, this senior cutie prefers to run around in the yard and would enjoy nothing more than a play session with her favorite humans each day. As with most cute fur babies, Lola Lane is not shy when it comes to asking for more attention and actually prefers to be the center of it. Because of this, the snowball of a pup would do best in the home as the only pup.

As with most senior babies, Lola Lane is the full package! Not only is she extremely soft with her interactions with people but she is also perfectly house trained and is a wonder on the leash. As with all pets, older furry friends are just as deserving of a loving home to spend their golden years in. Although overlooked more than most, pets like Lola Lane are full of love and are sure to bring light and joy to any household that is lucky enough to have her in it.
