Suspects detained in parking lot shooting at Tempe Ikea

A person was shot and killed in the parking lot of Ikea in Tempe on Monday, according to the Tempe Police Department.

Around 1:30 p.m. police said via Twitter they had responded to the scene near the Maricopa Freeway and Warner Road.

Two suspects fled the area in a vehicle initially, but were stopped by Gila River and Maricopa Police, and detained without incident. The unidentifi­ed person shot was taken to a local hospital and died there.

The scene was in lockdown for investigat­ion, although no one else was hurt during the incident. The Ikea reopened not long after the shooting. Detectives are still investigat­ing.
