Suspects detained in parking lot shooting at Tempe Ikea

A person was shot and killed in the parking lot of Ikea in Tempe on Monday, according to the Tempe Police Department.

Around 1:30 p.m. police said via Twitter they had responded to the scene near the Maricopa Freeway and Warner Road.

Two suspects fled the area in a vehicle initially, but were stopped by Gila River and Maricopa Police, and detained without incident. The unidentified person shot was taken to a local hospital and died there.

The scene was in lockdown for investigation, although no one else was hurt during the incident. The Ikea reopened not long after the shooting. Detectives are still investigating.
