Phoenix police identified 18-year-old Riann Curry as the woman who died following a shooting early Sunday at a park near 19th Avenue and Roeser Road.

Officers responded to a call about shots fired around 2 a.m. and at the location they learned multiple cars fled the area, police said. They got a related call and responded to the area of 35th Avenue and Lincoln Street, where one of the cars had stopped.

Curry was found inside the car with multiple gunshot wounds which other passengers said were caused at the park shooting. Witnesses said they tried to take Curry to the hospital but decided to call for help and stop, according to police.

Phoenix fire personnel took Curry to a hospital, where she died.

Police said detectives were speaking to witnesses and looking for evidence at the scene to determine what led to the shooting. There were no suspects in custody as of Monday morning.

It was one of at least three shootings that occurred in a one-hour span in Phoenix overnight from Saturday into Sunday. A man died from a gunshot wound at an apartment complex near Black Canyon Highway and Claremont Street. Also, a woman was injured in a shooting near 51st Avenue and Indian School Road.

Police were unable to confirm the exact number of shootings within that timeframe overnight.
