Cardinals announce plans for Draft Party

The Cardinals’ 2022 Draft Party will be held on April 28 on the Great Lawn outside State Farm Stadium from 4 to 9 p.m.

The first round of the draft begins at 5 p.m., but the Great Lawn will be open beginning at 4. Admission and parking are free.

Fans can meet Cardinals players, team mascot Big Red and Cardinals cheerleade­rs in addition to watching live NFL Network coverage of the draft on giant video boards. Team merchandis­e, including 2022 NFL draft gear, will be available for purchase. Food and drinks will also be available for sale and all transactio­ns will be cashless.

A post-draft fireworks show will conclude the party following the completion of the first round.

Other activities offered include a kids' interactiv­e zone, autographs, a 200-foot zipline, a rock, a 360-degree photo booth along with face painters and balloon artists. There also will be a junior cheerleadi­ng mini-clinic for girls ages 5-14.

Free parking will be available in the Southwest Orange lot off 95th Avenue and Cardinals Way. The NFL Clear Bag policy will be in effect and fans are asked to limit the items they bring onto the Great Lawn. For more informatio­n visit www.azcardinal­s.com/bagpolicy.

The Cardinals announced they have signed free-agent tight end Stephen Anderson, a five-year veteran who has spent time with the Texans, Patriots and Chargers, to a one-year contract.

The 6-foot-3 Anderson, 29, entered the NFL with Houston in 2016 as an undrafted rookie free agent out of California. In 62 career games, including 12 starts, he has 60 receptions for 706 yards and three touchdowns.

Anderson spent the past two seasons with the Chargers, with whom he appeared in 33 games and had 24 catches for 271 yards and one touchdown. He is the seventh tight end under contract with the Cardinals for 2022, joining Zach Ertz, Maxx Williams, David Wells, Alex Ellis, Deon Yelder, and Bernhard Seikovits.

—The Cardinals brought in free agent running back Darrell Williams for a visit, according to ESPN’s Field Yates. Williams, 5-11, 219, has spent all four of his NFL seasons with the Chiefs. Last season, he rushed for 558 yards and six touchdowns and caught 47 passes for 452 yards and two touchdowns in 17 games.
