Ronald Werner Meyer

-

Ronald Werner Meyer went home to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ, on November 16, 2022, after a brief struggle with pancreatic cancer. Ron was born in Los Angeles, California, on January 30, 1942. During childhood, he moved with his family to Phoenix, and graduated from Brophy College Prep in 1959. He then went to ASU and obtained his bachelor’s degree, and then attended U of A for his law degree.

During law school, he met a beautiful and intelligent woman named Roxolana, and soon married. They had four children, Werner, Larissa, Walter and Natalie.

A decade after Roxolana died, Ron married Alice Ferguson, and bragged that how lucky he was to have had two wonderful marriages when most men don’t have one.

Ron was a man of enormous accomplishments, and a man of enormous humility and modesty. He laughed often, and easily, including at himself. And every pursuit was met with a full and enthusiastic commitment. Consider:

His love of learning led him to three graduate degrees, including his law degree, and, later in life, a masters in theology and a masters in constitutional law.

His love of knowledge led to a library of approximately 10,000 volumes, all of which he read. There was no subject on earth that he had not read about.

His love for Christ and the Catholic Church led to extensive involvement in his parish, St. Francis Xavier, including director of faith formation for a number of years. He was a president of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, and was active in so many other Catholic organizations.

He was practicing law until a month before his death, but his talents were so extensive and varied that he could take a piece of lumber or metal and fabricate most anything in his workshop.

Ron touched and impacted so many lives, but most of all his family, which was the center of his.

Ron is predeceased by his first wife, Roxolana, and his parents, Werner and Betty Meyer. He is survived by his four children, ten grandchildren, four siblings (Richard, Roger, Rita (Houk), and Renee), and multiple nieces and nephews.

Visitation, rosary, and words of remembrance will take place at Queen of Heaven Funeral Home (1562 E. Baseline Rd, Mesa) from 6-8 pm on Friday, November 25.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church (4715 N. Central Ave.) at 1 pm on Saturday, November 26, with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society in his honor.
