Hate speech is not protected speech. It’s just trouble for all

-

I recently listened to a pre-recorded “conference call” by Charlie Kirk of Turning Point USA.

Although he claims his network is Christian, Kirk’s basic philosophy is hatred and distrust for the disenfranchised of our society. He rails at public school teachers, who give everything they’ve got to raise our children to be good, educated people.

Kirk must have missed the teachings of Jesus and the Bible to “love your neighbor as yourself,” help the poorest and most fragile in society and spread love.

In his conference call, Kirk sounded as if he was fueled by the hate speech of Donald Trump and his former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon.

In this blessed time of “Good will toward all,” hate speech should be ignored and banned for the good of all. Hate speech shouldn’t be covered by the First Amendment because hate speech only stirs up trouble and pain.

Hate speech at any time, whether Christmas or Hanukkah, is never First Amendment speech. Hate speech is just trouble for everyone.
