Your guide to the Super Bowl Experience

The Super Bowl Experience comes to Margaret T. Hance Park in downtown Phoenix on Thursday, Feb. 9, for four days of Super Bowl weekend fun including family-friendly games, local food vendors and live performanc­es by local music royalty − Jimmy Eat World and Gin Blossoms sharing a stage for the first time ever! − on Thursday, plus country superstar Lee Brice on Friday and Major Lazer on Saturday.

The free outdoor festival is presented by the Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee and Lowe’s. It’s open to all ages day and night. Viewing space for the concerts is limited and available on a first come, first served basis. So get there early if catching a guitar pick is on your Super Bowl weekend to-do list.

Along with live entertainm­ent and games, fans can enjoy local cuisine and local beer from Hensley Beverage Company.

There’s also a ticketed Super Bowl Experience at the Phoenix Convention Center on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 4-5, and Thursday-Saturday, Feb. 9-11.

Where is Margaret T. Hance Park?

Margaret T. Hance Park is at 67 W. Culver Street in downtown Phoenix, south of E. McDowell Road between N. Third Avenue and N. Central Avenue.

There are three different gates visitors may use. Those with bags must enter through Gate A. If you don’t have a bag, you are encouraged to use Gates B and C.

Gate A – East Side of Hance Park under Central Avenue Bridge at 67 W. Culver St.

Gate B – North First Street and East Moreland Street.

Gate C – North Second

East Moreland Street.

When is the Super Bowl Experience at Margaret T. Hance Park?

The Super Bowl Experience at Margaret T. Hance Park runs from 2 p.m.-10 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Feb. 9-10; 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11; and 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12.

Gin Blossoms will take the stage at 7:15 p.m. followed by Jimmy Eat World on Thursday, Feb. 9.

Lee Brice takes the stage on Friday, Feb. 10.

Major Lazer is the headliner on Saturday, Feb. 11. Major Lazer is the dance trio of Diplo, Walshy Fire and Ape Drums.

Can I watch the Super Bowl at Hance Park?

Yes, you can the Super Bowl at Hance Park. The first-ever official Super Bowl Watch Party takes place Sunday, Feb. 12. Gates open at 11 a.m.

The Super Bowl will air on Fox in English and on Fox Deportes in Spanish, both broadcasts beginning at 4:30 p.m. MST.

The Fox broadcast will be shown at Hance Park on what they claim are the largest LED screens in the state of Arizona.

What else is there to do at the Hance Park Super Bowl Experience?

Weekend activities include:

A football-themed obstacle course presented by Barrow Neurologic­al Institute with a scoreboard to track each participan­t’s performanc­e.

A PetSmart MVPets TAILgate experience, where fans can print a personaliz­ed trading card featuring their pet and test their own agility and speed with a 40-yard dash in a human hamster wheel.

A Frito-Lay’s Route 57 area featuring athlete appearance­s, a human claw machine, a Doritos football-themed arcade and even a touchdown dive into a pool of Cheetos foam-filled puffs.

A Verizon activation with games that offer fans the opportunit­y to win big prizes, such as tickets to the Super Bowl.

Photo ops include a mural selfie wall, a 16-foot Vince Lombardi trophy, supersized LVII Roman numerals and a 44foot LED saguaro cactus.

Will there be alcohol at Hance Park?

Outside alcohol is not allowed at Hance Park.

Only guests 21+ will be allowed to consume alcohol.

Guests wanting to consume alcohol will be required to visit an ID check station within Hance Park prior to purchasing drinks or ordering at a bar.

Drink options will include local and domestic beer from Hensley that will be available at the bar stations inside Hance Park.

Is there smoking at Hance Park?

Smoking is not allowed inside the event perimeters.

Bag policy

● There is no clear bag policy to enter Hance Park. However, all bags will be checked.

● Bags must not be larger than 18x 16 x 8 inches.

● If you bring a bag, including diaper bags, you MUST enter through the main gate located on Central Avenue and Gate B on First Street and Portland to run your items through the X-Ray security checkpoint.

● Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee recommends not bringing a bag to Hance Park to avoid lines at the Main Gate. Guests without a bag will be able to enter from any gate into Hance Park.

These are things you may not bring to Hance Park

The following items will not be permitted at the Super Bowl Experience:

● Outside alcohol.

● Animals (Service animals for guests with disabiliti­es are permitted. All other animals, including emotional support animals, are prohibited).

● Banners, signs or any other object that obstructs the view of others.

● Luggage.

● Bags larger than 18 x 16 x 8 inches.

● Glass or aluminum containers, thermoses, cups and/or beverage containers of any kind (unless purchased at an NFL venue).

● Cameras with removable lenses of more than 6 inches.

● Profession­al video/audio recorders, except for credential­ed media.

● Chairs, stools or other seating devices (except on Sunday: Folding outdoor chairs are permitted for Sunday’s Super Bowl watch party).

● Coolers (coolers for medical purposes are permitted).

● Laser pointers.

● Outside food or beverages (unless for medical purposes).

● Illegal substances.

● Mace, pepper spray or any aerosol.

● Motorized scooters, hoverboard­s, skateboard­s or self-propelled items except for ADA or medical purposes.

● Noisemaker­s and horns, whistles, or musical instrument­s of any kind.

● Promotiona­l items with commercial slogans or identifica­tion without written consent from the NFL.

● Selfie sticks and tripods.

● Weapons including firearms, knives, and electronic stunning devices.

● Fireworks, explosives or other combustibl­e items.

● Any other item deemed potentiall­y dangerous or inappropri­ate at management’s sole discretion.

Will there be bike racks?

There will be a limited number of bike racks on the west side of Hance Park near the Culver parking lot.
