ASU women to finish home season this weekend

Arizona State women’s basketball will have its final home games this weekend as the program seeks its first win in Pac-12 play with four conference games remaining. It will be a tough battle for the Sun Devils (7-16, 0-14) with both teams nationally ranked this weekend.

ASU will host its annual Sparky’s Kids to College Day on Friday, which will bring more than 1,000 youth to Desert Financial Arena at 11 a.m. against No. 21 Colorado (20-5).

Sunday’s home finale brings in No. 4 Utah at 12 p.m.

Last weekend, the Sun Devils dropped both contests to California and Stanford.

Tyi Skinner led ASU’s offense in both games and averaged 20.0 points.

Arizona State has not seen either team this season after its road games in mid-January were canceled due to the Sun Devils not having enough available players.

ASU men keeping postseason hopes alive

ASU won both crucial games against Stanford and California in last weekend’s road trip.

The Sun Devils (18-8, 9-6) are now fifth in the Pac-12 and will host Colorado on Thursday at 6 p.m. and Utah on Saturday at 4 p.m.

This is the first and final meetings for ASU and both teams. Utah (17-9, 10-5) sits at third in the conference and has won its last two games. Colorado (14-12, 6-9) is seventh and has won two of its last three.

UA men hoping to bounce back

Arizona’s loss to Stanford on Sunday didn’t help the team as the Wildcats still hold a second-seed in the Pac-12 behind UCLA.

As a result, the Wildcats (22-4, 11-4) dropped four spots and are now ranked eighth in the nation. Arizona will host Utah on Thursday at 8 p.m. and Colorado on Saturday at 6 p.m.

Arizona women set for showdown against ranked opponents

No. 17 Arizona split last weekend against Stanford and California. The Wildcats lost by 16 points to Stanford on Thursday, but earned a win over California on Sunday.

Arizona (19-6, 9-5) will open the weekend with Utah at home at 7 p.m. on Friday, followed by Colorado at 12 p.m. on Sunday. The Wildcats are fifth in the conference and could make up some ground with wins over top-seeded Utah and third-seeded Colorado.

Grand Canyon men hoping to gain ground at home

GCU (16-9, 7-5) split last weekend with a win at home against New Mexico State and lost a tight game on the road to Seattle U.

The Western Athletic Conference is dealing with the shockwaves from Sunday when the remainder of NMSU’s season was canceled after an alleged hazing incident. GCU's remaining game at NMSU set for next week will not be played.

The Lopes sit sixth in the WAC and will host UT Rio Grande Valley on Wednesday at 7 p.m., along with Abilene Christian on Friday at 9 p.m.
