-

Louis John Brudnock Jr. passed away on February 7, 2023 in Mesa, Arizona.

Mr. Brudnock was born August 25, 1943 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the son of Louis and Gertrude (Grace) Brudnock and the brother of Donna McIntyre. He had a childhood filled with adventure…fast cars, music and great friends living in the working-class Lawrenceville neighborhood.

After high school, he was employed by Glenshaw Glass as a mechanic for 43 years, and served as Union President for 30 of those years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman enjoyed much time in the outdoors, and followed the Pittsburgh Steelers proudly. He served in the Naval Reserve to honor our country for two years.

Mr. Brudnock married Janet Skelly in 1963 and has three children: Dr. Louann Mace of Flagstaff, Arizona, Joseph Brudnock and Michael Brudnock, both of Tempe, Arizona.

Mr. Brudnock was also married to Charlotte Bash in 1985 and has two children: Chief Warrant Officer 3 Robert Brudnock of Rensselaer, New York and Nicole Prawatya of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

After the end of his second marriage, Mr. Brudnock reunited with Janet and moved to Arizona 18 years ago. He recommitted to his Catholic faith and they were both active members of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Mr. Brudnock worked for the U.S. Census Department to generate housing reports, staying vibrant and connected in his later years.

Mr. Brudnock is blessed with 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, all of whom loved him and enjoyed special memories with him.

Those who knew our dad experienced first-hand his larger-than-life personality, his love of politics and a good argument, his joy at celebrations and dressing in costumes, his open heart and home and his over the top holiday decorations. He was beyond proud of his children and was our biggest fan in all we did. We were all his “favorite” and we will forever miss his playing with the kids as only a true kid at heart could. He never lost that wonder and did his best to share it with them.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister. Visitation will be held Monday February 20th from 5-8pm at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery and Funeral Home in Mesa, Arizona. Funeral Mass is on Tuesday February 21st at 11am at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Tempe, Arizona. A private burial will take place at a later date.
