GILBERT – Mary Judith (Twyman) Brice passed away peacefully at her home in Gilbert, AZ on February 1, 2023. Judy, as she was known, was born in Pittsburgh, PA to Kenneth (Sky) Twyman and Teresa Kennedy Twyman on August 22, 1942. Judy was the third of three children. She had two older brothers, John Kennedy (Jack) Twyman and Edward Stuart (Ned) Twyman. Jack Twyman was an All Star NBA basketball player with the Cincinnati Royals, now the Sacramento Kings. Ned Twyman was a stand out basketball player at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. Judy was preceded in death by her parents and her two brothers. She attended Holy Innocents High School in Pittsburgh where she met the love of her life and future husband, Bill. Both attended Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA where Judy majored in education. She taught the primary grades for many years following Duquesne. On December 28, 1963, Judy and Bill were married in Holy Innocents Catholic Church on the feast day of the Holy Innocents. In September, 1968, Judy gave birth to twin daughters, Eleanor and Theresa, each named after their grandmothe­rs. In the fall of 1979 the family moved to Gilbert, AZ where they would make their home for the ensuing 44 years. During this time, Judy became a fiduciary agent with Concerned Friends at Friendship Village in Tempe, AZ. She carried on this business successful­ly for over twenty years until she retired. Judy was the light of the lives of her husband Bill and her twin daughters, Theresa and Eleanor, as well as her four beloved grandchild­ren. She was described by a high school friend as being the sister he never had but wished for. He went on to say that she was “cute and smart and funny and just a terrific friend”, sentiments which were shared by all who knew her. She was dearly loved by her family and she doted over them. She took pride in her daughters, their husbands and her beautiful and talented grandchild­ren. Judy is survived by Bill, her loving spouse of 59 years and her daughters, Theresa Duplissa (David) and Eleanor Tsark (Walter) and four grandchild­ren; Nicole Duplissa, Matthew Duplissa, Isabella Tsark and Amelia Tsark. A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Anne Catholic Church in Gilbert, AZ on February 20, 2023. Burial was held the following day at the National Memorial Cemetery in north Phoenix.
