Callie and more pets up for adoption in Phoenix-area shelters this week
Every year, approximately 6.5 million companion animals enter shelters nationwide, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Of those, about 3.3 million are dogs and 3.2 million are cats.

Callie: Voted best hair
Callie is a true testament to why the Arizona Humane Society continues to work to find new and innovative ways to save even more pets’ lives each day. The 4-year-old dilute tortoiseshell kitty was originally rescued by AHS as an underaged, orphaned kitten all the way in 2018 at just a few weeks old. After a few months of care to get her up to age and weight for adoption in AHS’ Bottle Baby ICU and a loving Foster Hero home, Callie was quickly adopted.
Unfortunately, this beautiful girl has found her way back to AHS after her previous owners could no longer care for her and had to surrender her back to the shelter recently. However, if it weren’t for the shelter’s specialized area for neonate kittens and foster program that had saved her originally all those years ago, Callie would not be seeking a second chance at a great life today.
Callie loves for her long, luxurious hair to be brushed and is a very sweet kitty who enjoys attention. One look at her and you understand why she is used to always getting what she wants, who can say no to such an adorable face?

Her adoption fee includes her spay surgery, current vaccinations, a microchip and a free followup wellness exam with a VCA Animal Hospital.
