Here is The Republic’s all-Arizona girls’ high school tennis team for the 2022-23 school year (listed alphabetic­ally), along with honorable mentions, and the coach of the year. The player of the year will be announced later this month along with those from other high school sports for the 2022-23 school year.

Sonali Bhalla, Chandler Prep, So. She was co-winner of the Division III state doubles championsh­ip with teammate Gaby Chu. Bhalla posted an impressive 31-1 record in AIA play, which included a 16-0 record in singles matches. Gaby Chu, Chandler Prep, So.

She was co-winner of the Division III state double championsh­p with teammate Sonali Bhalla. Chu finished with an 18-5 overall AIA record, going 9-3 in singles matche and 9-2 in doubles.

Gracie Cranford, Notre Dame Prep, Fr.

She was co-winner of the Division II state doubles championsh­ip along with teammate Kira Lehman. She posted a 14-2 overal record in AIA competitio­n, including 8-0 in doubles matches.

Julia Frazier, Desert Mountain, Sr. She was co-winner of the Division I state doubles championsh­ip with teammate Tessa Wachtel. Frazier posted a 15-0 record in AIA singles and doubles matches combined this year for the Wolves.

Kira Lehman, Notre Dame Prep, Sr. She was co-winner of the Division II state doubles championsh­ip with teammate Gracie Cranford. Lehman posted a 14-1 overall record and was undefeatd in doubles play at 7-0.

Zaria McGinty, Canyon View, Fr

She won the state Division II singles championsh­ip as a freshmen, after posting an impressive 27-1 overall record in AIA competitio­n in combined singles and doubles matches this year.

Sydney Schnell, Desert Vista, So.

She won the state Division I singles championsh­ip over teammate Natalie Visic and was a key part of the Thunder making it to the team championsh­ip match, where it finished second to Desert Mountain. She posted an overall record of 14-4 in AIA matches, including 11-2 in singles play.

Nandini Patel, Scottsdale Prep, Jr.

Patel won her third consectuvi­e Division III singles championsh­ip after posting a 26-1 overall record in combined singles and doubles matches in AIA competitio­n this year.

Devyn Rodriguez, Chandler, So. Rodriguez was the No. 2 seed entering the AIA Division I singles championsh­ip bracket, but lost in her semifinal match to eventual D-I runner-up Natalie Visic. Rodriguez posted a 22-4 record in AIA play, going 11-2 in both singles and doubles matches.

Tessa Wachtel, Desert Mountain, Jr.

She was co-winner of the Division I state doubles championsh­ip with teammate Julia Frazier. Wachtel posted a 27-1 overall record in AIA singles and doubles matches combined this year.

Sasha Tijore, Ironwood, So.

She finished second in the Division II state singles championsh­ip. Tijore posted a 26-2 overall record in AIA play this year.

Natalie Visic, Desert Vista, Fr.

She finished second in Division I state singles championsh­ip to teammate Sydney Schnell. Visic posted a 26-8 regular season record in AIA singles and doubles matches combined.

Coach of the year

Kim Dever, Desert Mountain

Dever continued presiding over one of the top programs in recent Arizona high school tennis, leading the Wolves to the Division I state championsh­ip and an 18-0 record in AIA competitio­n this season. “These girls have worked so hard,” Dever told the Republic after her team one the AIA championsh­ip. “They have just worked out hard in our tournament­s and just brought it today. It was exciting to see every one of our courts fighting hard.”
