CORPUS CHRISTI – On July 26, 2023, Lindsay lost her life after a long battle with dementia. Lindsay, 74, was born March 17, 1949, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada to parents, Frank and Gertrude Bishopric.

After completing high school in Ottawa, Lindsay left Canada to study nursing in Syracuse, New York, where she completed her Bachelor of Science and a Master’s of Science in Nursing. She went on to excel in her field, providing exemplary nursing care first in Syracuse and in later decades in Florida, Texas, Arizona, California and Nevada.

Along the way, she met and married Jack Parento of San Diego. Lindsay lost Jack some years later due to heart failure.

In retirement, she enjoyed time with friends in the Sun Lakes Retirement Community in Arizona before returning to Corpus Christi a few years ago with her beloved pets.

Lindsay spent the last years of her life at Brookdale Assisted Living and then transitioned into the Clare Bridge Memory Care Unit. She developed many lasting friendships with her co-residents and staff. Lindsay’s family and friends want to sincerely thank her Guardian Paul Swacina, End of Life Doula Barbara Garner, Father John Hardie, Nurses on Wheels Hospice, Peggy Gaona, Candy Calmes and the rest of the staff at Brookdale Assisted Living and Clare Bridge Memory Care Unit at Brookdale for their thoughtfulness, loving care and concern during her last few years and days.

Lindsay was predeceased by her parents and older sister Nanette. She will be especially missed by her second cousin in Ottawa, Cathie and husband Steve, who spent many visits exploring the southern US with Lindsay.

A Celebration of Life will take place on August 23, 2023, beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the Brookdale Corpus Christi Community Room, Independent Living Building, 6410 Meadowvista Drive, Corpus Christi, Texas.
