Norma L Israel

LAS VEGAS – Norma L. Israel passed away at age 91 on August 22, 2023 due to Alzheimer’s with Lewy body complications. She was born to George M. and Gladys O. Connery (Wells) July 1932. She was married to Jerry L Israel April 1951.

Norma was a loving, devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt. She enjoyed cheering her family on in all of their sporting and school activities, traveling across the country and internationally with Jerry’s golf buddies and their wives, Jerry’s sister Beverly Benzion and her husband Irv, their friends at Milton Senior Activities Center and clogging with friends at both Milton and Sun City AZ senior activities centers. Norma learned to golf in her 50’s, enjoying twice weekly rounds into their late 80’s. She loved sharing that she scored a-hole-in-one first. Norma cherished the 30+ years of monthly gatherings spent with the gals in Birthday Club.

Norma and Jerry celebrated 72 years of marriage this past April.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents, brother Charles (Ray) Connery, sister Barbara M Mayfield, and daughter Jaye Israel. She is survived by her loving husband Jerry, son Jeff (Christina) Israel, daughter Tami Kecherson, grandaughters Kelsey (Christopher) Schroeder, and Emily Kecherson, nieces Timora (Steve) Cereghino, and Daryl (Eric) Johnson and their families.

There will be no services. In lieu of flowers, the following organizations hold special meaning to the family: Alzheimer’s Association (Alz.org), Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation (Crohnscolitisfoundation.org), American Cancer Society (cancer.org). Please send any in honor of memorial cards to Tami Kecherson so she can read them to Jerry who is now legally blind.
